Abrasive Wear

Abrasive Wear occurs when a hard rough surface slides across a softer surface. An example of this would be where brake pads wear down against brake discs. Abrasive wear differs from Adhesive wear as the wear is not caused by the degradation particles of the component, just the action of components rubbing together.
