Corrosive Wear occurs when the material surface gets disintegrated due to the chemical reaction between the material surface and the corroding medium which can be either a chemical agents, lubricants or atmospheric mediums.

Adhesive wear occurs when two nominally flat solid bodies are in sliding contact, whether or not they are lubricated. Adhesion occurs at the asperity [harshness] contacts at the interface. These contacts are sheared by relative motion, which may result in detachment of a fragment from one surface and attachment to the other.
